Money isn't forever. That may be why affluent professionals who use the services of financial planners feel better about retirement than average Americans.

Some 96 percent of the affluent say they feel confident they have enough for retirement, compared to 73 percent of Americans overall, according to a survey by Nationwide Financial.

"Certainly the income levels of the affluent group play a role in their retirement confidence,'' said Mathew Greenwald of Mathew Greenwald and Associates, who performed the survey for Nationwide Financial. ""But what we have found in this and other research is that there is a correlation between income and use of advisors. Those who have more money use advisors, but the opposite may also be true. Those who use advisors have more money."
